Mandatory Title Block Specifications for CBA Building Plan Submissions
Regulations & codes
By BuildWise Editorial • 2026-05-05 • 2 min read
Introduction
Effective May 1, 2026, the Central Building Authority (CBA) requires all building plan submissions to include a formal title block. Plans that do not meet these specific requirements will no longer be accepted for review.
Submission Requirements by Project Size
The specific requirements for the title block depend on the size and complexity of the project:
- Bungalows up to 1,200 sq. ft. (Non-Complex): Submissions must feature the title block of the technician who prepared the drawings. Note: "Non-complex" refers to conventional bungalows that are not elevated, do not have concrete roofs, and use basic hip or gable roofs with spans under 20 feet.
- Buildings between 1,200 sq. ft. and 3,000 sq. ft.: Submissions must carry the title block of a registered professional, either an Architect or an Engineer.
- Buildings exceeding 3,000 sq. ft.: These projects require endorsement from two professionals. The drawings must include the title block of a registered Architect or Engineer, with a specific space provided within that block to identify the second professional.
Compliance Reminder
The CBA will strictly enforce these specifications; proper title blocks are now a prerequisite for acceptance. While these formatting rules are new, all other existing building plan requirements remain unchanged.
